Dr. Carmelo Zappulla
Carmelo Zappulla is a Barcelona-based architect and founder of External Reference, an international firm specializing in architectural design, urban planning, and exhibition spaces. He holds a doctorate from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and has a strong network of international collaborators. Notable projects include the Spanish Pavilion for EXPO2020 in Dubai and various designs in cities like Moscow, Bangkok, and Madrid. Zappulla has won numerous awards, including the 2011 New Italian Blood award, and currently teaches at LCI Barcelona and IAAC. His work has been exhibited at venues such as the Venice Biennale and MAXXI, with publications in top design magazines.
